Overview

NutriSight, a mobile app enhanced with Meta AR, was created to help users choose the healthiest food options based on their dietary preferences. Initially started as part of an academic project focused on user research, I took the lead in advancing the project by developing the prototypes and visual designs. Using insights from our research, I crafted intuitive, user-centered designs that translated data into actionable, user-friendly interfaces. Through several iterations and comprehensive usability testing, the design achieved a significant improvement in user experience, increasing navigation ease by 25%. Moreover, I learned how to bring research findings to life through data-driven design, enabling users to make healthier choices with greater efficiency and ease.

Creating the brand story

Rooted in Nature, Inspired by Harmony

The color palette draws inspiration from the natural world, evoking a sense of grounding and tranquility. The shades of blue symbolize the expansive sky, representing openness, trust, and community connection, while the grays reflect the steady resilience of the ground, emphasizing stability and balance. Together, these colors create a harmonious blend that resonates with the app's purpose: fostering unity and reliability in a serene, welcoming environment.

Retrospective

Value of empathy in design
Unless and until you don't put yourself in the shoes of the user, you won't realize the needs and problems of the user
This empathetic approach allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of user experiences, preferences, and pain points. I could identify the critical issues that was not immediately apparent, which lead to more effective and tailored solutions.

Key Takeaways

Usability Testing and iterations are important
It helped refine the designs based on real user feedback, enhanced the overall user experience and lead to a more intuitive and satisfying final product.
Avoiding Designer Bias
Ensured that our decisions were grounded in actual user needs rather than personal assumptions, resulting in a product that resonated with users and effectively addressed their challenges.
Balance of aesthetics and functionality is required
This dual focus enhanced user engagement and satisfaction, made it easier for users to navigate the app while enjoying an attractive interface.
